Program
* Escape to Freedom is a dramatic reading of a short play by Maryellen Joncyk. Kevin Becker has added original music to this true story of Beacon resident Hung Truong’s escape from Vietnam after the fall of Saigon.
* Jim Pospisil – will present an original song cycle that is light-hearted, auto-biographical &draws from motifs and tunes that have pervaded pop culture. Jim also adds his song “Different” to “Escape to Freedom”
* Piedmont Bluz Acoustic Duo – will apply the “folk process” to blues songs written by Blind Willie McTell, Elizabeth Cotton & the Carter family.
* Magpie – will present a song cycle from their latest CD recording “When We Stand Together” – songs of the IWW, Joe Hill, and the labor movement.
