UNCOMMON THREADS: Fiberworks by Deborah J. Bein

A Poughkeepsie studio artist working in the medium of fiber collage, Bein’s palette includes commercial and textiles as well as cloth she creates herself with paint, ink and dye. Deborah relishes the layering and embellishment of diverse textures that fiber collage encourages; she lays the stitching in by machine and by hand, utilizing both the hard seamed edge and the soft frayed edge as design elements.  Bein’s design process is intuitive and improvisational – once engrossed in the process and her musings, she lets the work take her where it needs to go.

Bein’s fiber collage art works will be on display at the Cunneen-Hackett Arts Center 9 Vassar Street in Poughkeepsie, NY

From November 11, 2016, through January 3, 2017.

Artist’s reception on Sunday Dec. 11 is from 12-3 pm.
