Karl Schmitz is a local artist and musician whose abstract acrylic paintings explore the balance between order and chaos.  He is particularly interested in how complexity can grow out of simplicity and how apparent simplicity can reveal unrecognized complexity. His work has been exhibited in solo shows at Barrett Art Center, Cunneen-Hackett Art Center, Poughkeepsie Common Council Chambers, and Locust Grove Estate.
