Helena Palazzi is a photographer and mixed media artist who studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Perugia, Umbria. Born in Sweden, she relocated to NYC in 1998 and pursued a career in commercial and fashion photography working with some of the world’s most renowned clients and creatives. Now residing in the Hudson Valley, she owns two studios, Yellow House Production and Art by Helena Palazzi, and regularly participates in several group shows and exhibitions in the area. Ms. Palazzi’s current exhibit at the Cunneen-Hackett Arts Center entitled The Whisperer of Secrets encompasses encaustic photography – an ancient painting technique used by the Greeks in the first through third centuries A.D. “I weave layers of images together with encaustic medium, cold wax, paint and pigments and thus explore the ‘divine feminine’ through my study of runes, Norse art, folklore tales and myths,” she explains. “My artistic journey is somewhere at the confluence of the peeling and adding layers and the seconds ticking away and ties in with my fascination with time, how it is measured and defined and inadvertently leaves an imprint.” art by helena palazzi
