Brett Gehrke, a Hudson Valley native, is a retired educator who has created illustrations in a variety of media that address a multitude of topics.  As a watercolorist, pen and ink artist, and oil landscape painter, he is inspired by spending time outdoors and enjoying nature.  “My portraiture is ‘old school’ showing specific moments in time and sometimes the depth of the human soul in a variety of drawing styles…my mind spans several different artistic modes in the creation of these complex detailed images,” Mr. Gehrke explains. “These metamorphic mental meanderings delve deeply into a variety of symbolic colorful images and are meant to be explored and unraveled for meaning and content.”  He has also developed a portfolio of humorous graphics depicting his experience as a ski patrol professional in the Catskills that have been featured in the monthly National Ski Patrol Magazine as well as having them licensed for use by the National Canadian Ski Patrol Trainer Center.
